the love we lost

A Magical Girl Story Set in Japan

When Meg Momozono moved to Kamogawa, Japan, to attend a university of the arts, her only real worries had been whether she’d get on okay with her studies, if she could speak the language without embarrassing slip-ups, and whether she could cook a basic meal without poisoning herself.

But when she has a chance run-in with a hulking, demonic-looking entity, her life takes a drastic turn. Receiving the help of a mysterious girl dressed in an outfit Meg can’t help but associate with the magical girl shows she watched as a child, she must make the toughest decision of her life: to become a magical girl herself and reveal a world she never knew existed…

Or choose the safe option and go back to her life as a university student.

The Love We Lost is heavily inspired by Japanese magical girl stories (especially the Pretty Cure franchise), and is my take on that particular genre. The closest Western equivalent is Urban Fantasy, but with a much lighter tone.

I’m currently writing the final book of the trilogy, and will be releasing it as a single big collection on Amazon when it’s done. Patreon supporters have immediate access to the first two books, plus behind the scenes content and other goodies. You can also jump onto my newsletter for updates, giveaways, promos, and more.
