Of my favourite Japanese genres of fiction, two of the top ones are magical girls and idols. Not coincidentally I also tend to write both of these genres myself, though with my own unique spin of the formula, and not just the lesbian aspects. Dreaming of the Stars is my take on the idol genre, though I’m specifically talking about the fictional representations you’ll find in anime like Idolm@ster or Aikatsu.
This is an important distinction to make, because while I love fictional idols, I’m not into the real world equivalents. Call it personal taste, or maybe I just prefer the fictional ones because those are actual stories with characters who develop over time, and I mean… I’m a writer, and I love reading, so yeah, that might have something to do with it.
Anyway, Starlight Dreamers is a lesbian erotic romance with positive future sci-fi elements and setting, and focuses on an ensemble cast of characters all in the 18-23 age range. Have I mentioned before that I enjoy genre mashups? Because if it wasn’t clear, I enjoy genre mashups 😅
Set on another world, planet Aida, Starlight Dreamers follows its large cast as they go about the business of becoming professional-grade idols in a world where idols are the number one form of entertainment. If you’ve ever watched Aikatsu, then imagine that but in space, and with lesbians.
This first big collection follows best friends Isla and Anise as they transfer from their home on Mars to the entertainment capital of the stars, the city of Apollotia on planet Aida, where they meet new friends and rivals, and perhaps learn about the subject of falling in love…
Starlight Dreamers is a Patron-Exclusive series I write for the $5 tier supporters, and this first collection is a free sample to give you an idea of what to expect from the series as a whole. It’s around 100,000 words, and comprises a complete arc for the two main girls, so you’ll get a satisfying conclusion even if you don’t decide you want to support me on Patreon 😎
I hope you enjoy this light-hearted story of idols and lesbian love, and thanks for reading! (Note: Most of what I write and publish for free here on the site is non-erotic. Erotic content is generally a patron-only thing, with the exception of this and The Goddess Returns, which are intended as samples.)
